Tricia Johnson, MSW, LICSW
Executive Director

Tricia initially began working with the Leo A. Hoffmann agency in 2011 as a youth counselor in the Hoffmann Center residential treatment program. Tricia then began as a therapist in the St. Peter Counseling Center program in 2015, following a brief 6 month break from working at LAHC. Tricia obtained her Bachelor of Social Work degree and she went on to obtain her Master of Social Work degree, both from Minnesota State University- Mankato. Tricia brings a professional background that is diverse and includes working with children and their families with concerns ranging from communication to trauma and child problem sexual behavior. Other areas of experience include: mental health therapy with adults, children, and families, social skills training (CTSS & ARMHS) with children and adults, serving people with intellectual disabilities co-occurring with mental illness, residential and outpatient treatment for adolescent boys, policy and accreditation work, and services for the elderly population. Tricia is licensed as an LICSW and provides clinical supervision to newly licensed clinician and other mental health practitioners. She has formal training in play therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Lindsay Boettger, MA, LPCC
Program Director Clinical Services

I received a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2012 from Argosy University with a dual focus on treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a board approved supervisor.

I worked as an outpatient therapist at Hoffmann Counseling Services (previously St. Peter Counseling) after receiving my degree and returned in 2018 as a clinical supervisor. I now direct the outpatient clinical services. I have additional experience in private and community mental health clinics.
I have experience treating a variety of concerns for all ages including anxiety, depression, and phase of life problems, with areas of expertise including birth through age 5, trauma, attachment, neurodevelopmental concerns including ADHD and Autism, parenting and family therapy, and problem behaviors related to sex and sexuality.

I am a registered provider of Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), have completed in depth training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and DC 0-5, with additional training to provide play therapy, and play therapy based on the principles of Theraplay©

I have a passion for early intervention, preventative care, and development, which include the development of future therapists. I value helping children return to a healthy trajectory with the help of their primary caregivers. It is fulfilling to supervise clinical trainees and get a chance to share their journey toward independent licensure and practice.

I live in New Ulm, with my husband, three kids, and pets. I enjoy anything related to being outdoors and spending time with family. I especially enjoy visiting state parks and rock hunting.

Felicia Kellen, MS, LMFT
Program Director Rehabilitative Services

I received a Master of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Development from Capella University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I have worked at a variety of levels within the mental health field. I started as a Mental Health Behavioral Aide and a Mental Health Practitioner before the Leo A. Hoffmann Center as a residential therapist. I joined Hoffmann Counseling Services as an outpatient therapist in 2019. I now direct outpatient rehabilitative services.

I have experience treating a variety of concerns for all ages including anxiety, depression, transition to adulthood, with areas of focus including birth through age 5, trauma, parenting and family therapy, and problem behaviors related to sex and sexuality.

I am trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), have fully completed training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and DC 0-5, with additional training to provide yoga and mindfulness based approaches and Polyvagal theory.

I believe creating a positive therapeutic relationship with the people I work with is done best by providing a relaxed, open, and non-judgmental environment. I make an effort to approach each new relationship with a sensitivity, open-ness, and respect of each persons’ unique experience. I enjoy using holistic approaches that are supported by modern research and working collaboratively with each individual to help reach your ultimate goal.
I live outside of the Mankato area with my family and dog. I enjoy spending my time outside, with family, and absorbing new knowledge. I particularly enjoy watching my child explore around at the park as she learns about the wonders of the world.

Peggy Brekke
Residential Billing Specialist

Peggy has been with the Hoffmann Center for over four years. During her time here at Leo A. Hoffmann Center, she has worked in several roles! Currently, she is our residential billing specialist.

In her free time, Peggy enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her family.

Taylor Johnson, MS, LICSW
Clinical Supervisor

I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from St. Cloud State University in 2018 before going on to receive my Master's in Social Work. I received my Master of Social Work in 2020 from Minnesota State University Mankato. I am a Licensed Clinical Independent Social Worker (LICSW).

I have worked as an outpatient therapist at Hoffmann Counseling Services (HCS) since receiving my degree. My role with HCS has evolved throughout my years, as I am now a Clinical Supervisor.

I have a passion for helping others find their inner strengths and empowering them to make positive changes in their lives. I approach clients with empathy and a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges. I have experience working with youth, adolescents, older adults, and families.

I have experience treating a variety of concerns for all ages including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. I received formal training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a cutting-edge and highly effective approach to trauma resolution and emotional healing.

I live in Mankato with my husband. I enjoy spending time with my family, skiing, camping, going to the lake, and playing pickle ball.

Katie Dorschner, MSW, LICSW
Therapist

I obtained a Bachelors of Social Work degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Dakota. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

My previous experience has allowed me to work with people in many stages of their lives. I have a special interest in working with children and treating trauma. I have completed training for DC 0-5 (birth to 5-year-olds) and Parent and Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I have obtained additional training in the treatment of trauma and play therapy. I have experience working with concerns related to depression, anxiety, trauma, mood, disruptive behaviors, and parenting.

I enjoy utilizing art, movement, play, imagery, and creativity within therapy. I believe all people have strengths that they can draw from to better their lives. I value regular self-care as vital to mental health. I primarily borrow approaches from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy.

I live in New Ulm, with my family of 6. I love spending my spare time reading, running with my dog, doing something crafty, or practicing yoga. I enjoy traveling and hope to "touch grass" in many more places throughout my lifetime.

Deanna Armstrong, MSW, LGSW
Therapist

Hi! My name is Deanna and I’m so happy to be working at the Hoffmann Center as a mental health therapist! I graduated in August 2023 with my Master’s degree in Social Work with an advanced clinical concentration from Walden University. I also received a graduate certificate with focus on working with children and families. I went to Minnesota State University, Mankato, for my undergraduate degree. I received a Bachelor of Science, doubling majoring in Child Development & Family Studies as well as Applied Leadership.
I have experience working with a wide range of populations. I have experience working in nursing homes, group homes, child protection, residential mental health services for adults and children, mobile crisis response team, and outpatient therapy.
When I started in 2019 working at the Hoffmann Center, I didn’t except myself to become a therapist and continue working here. I have a passion for working with at risk youth that are in need of mental health services. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Family Systems Trauma and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
In my free time I love to travel and spend extra time with my two dogs, Lucy and Maya.

Travis Schmidt
Recreation Coordinator

Travis graduated from Augsburg University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. Prior to joining the Hoffmann Center team in 2023, he has had experiences working with children and adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and co-occurring disorders. Travis has also worked as a Mental Health Practitioner for Hoffmann Counseling Services. Sports and recreation have always been Travis’ passion and he strives to share this passion with others.

Grant Diedrich
Residential Program Coordinator

Grant has work in our PRFT program since 2021, starting as a youth counselor on the units, then being promoted to Unit Supervisor of our Falcons Unit, and now finally in the role of Program Coordinator of our PRTF program. Grant has a history that is rich in working with people and the service industry. Grant says that his favorite part of working at LAHC is spending time with the kids and staff on the units and watching the progress the kids and families make as they work through our program.

Dr. Shane Wernsing
Psychiatrist

Dr. Wernsing graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota with a degree in chemistry. He then went on to earn his Medical Degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Dr. Wernsing completed his internship and residency in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and his fellowship in Wisconsin.

Molly Taylor
HR/Payroll Specialist

Molly has been working in the HR/Payroll field for four years. She is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, where she got her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a minor in Non-Profit Administration. Molly started with Hoffmann Center in August of 2023.

In her free time, Molly enjoys spending time with her husband and 11-year-old chocolate lab, Dutch. She loves a good coffee and cozying up on the couch with a Harry Potter book! Molly is excited to work at the Hoffmann Center and believes in the work being done here.

Sierra Johnson
Knights Unit Supervisor

Sierra moved to southern Minnesota from Kansas in 2022. She comes to the Hoffmann Center with 4 years of experience in the mental health field. Sierra started here as a youth counselor and was promoted to unit supervisor for her strong determination in helping our clients receive the care they need! Sierra enjoys spending time in nature, attending concerts with her friends, watching a good movie and a cold glass of Pepsi!

Anoria Zuehlke, MA, LPCC
Clinical Director

Anoria joined the Hoffmann Center in June of 2021. She is a South Dakota native who sought out her grandmother's journey and received her undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University- Mankato and then ventured on her own to obtain her master's degree from University of Colorado- Colorado Springs. Anoria is licensed as a LPCC and has worked with children, adults, and families for the past 15 years. She is also licensed to provide licensure supervision to individuals who are seeking their licensure as a clinical counselor. Anoria conducts her practice through the strengths based and trauma informed care models. She believes everyone has the ability to be their best selves and by meeting a person where they are at and understand/listen to their story, one can achieve safety, healthy, and meaningful connection. Another passion of Anoria's is finding balance in work/home/self-care. When she's not working, Anoria spends time with her husband, two kids, and three fur babies. They love camping, traveling, boating, fishing, snowshoeing, swimming, yoga, baseball/softball, basketball, and volleyball.

Ben Copeland
Training Specialist

Ben studied psychology at Gustavus Adolphus College, graduating in 2010. Ben has been with the Hoffmann Center since 2011, working as a youth counselor and then a unit supervisor of the Falcons unit. In 2022 Ben moved into the training specialist role.

Greg Rueff
Phoenixes Unit Supervisor

Greg brings over 20 years of business, civic, and therapeutic experience to The Hoffmann Center. Greg is a summa cum laude graduate of Capella University. He has worked for The Hoffmann Center for seven years as a counselor and unit supervisor. Greg’s deepest source of professional satisfaction is helping clients attain healthy relationships, personal happiness, and the ability to realize their unique potential.

Tessa Friday
Accreditation Coordinator

Tessa joined the Hoffmann Center in March of 1999 after graduating from St. Mary’s University. Tessa worked as a Youth Counselor and Unit Coordinator before moving into her current role as the Accreditation Coordinator. Tessa enjoys spending time with her family, friends and pets. Tessa’s hobbies include spending time outside whether it be gardening, camping, going to the lake or ice fishing.

Mary Manriquez, MS
Therapist

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Child Advocacy Studies from Winona State University in 2019. I received a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2022 from Minnesota State University – Mankato. I am currently working towards obtaining my independent licensure and becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

I completed my master’s level internship through Hoffmann Counseling Services in 2021-2022, and accepted a full-time clinical trainee position in May of 2022. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have experience in treating a variety of concerns for all ages including significant life transitions, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, LGBTQIA+ stressors/challenges, gender dysphoria, substance abuse, neurodevelopmental concerns such as ADHD and Autism, stress management, and grief/loss.

I am a provider who utilizes holistic approaches in my work with clients. I value an integrative approach to counseling and strive to create a welcoming and affirming space where clients can feel encouraged to be their authentic selves, find their strengths, and make positive changes to lead empowering lives.

Currently, I reside in Madelia with my wife and a houseful of ever-growing pets (3 dogs, 4 cats, and 2 birds). During my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, immersing myself in nature, hiking and camping with my dogs, attending a variety of concerts or musical events, and cooking.

Kal Osman
Falcons Unit Supervisor

Kal has been working at the Hoffmann Center for two years, he started here as a Youth Counselor then was promoted to unit supervisor for his fantastic work ethic and ability to form therapeutic relationships with clients. He is passionate about helping people in the community. In his free time, Kal enjoys playing sports such as basketball, football and golf. Kal also loves spending time with his 2 year old cat, 3 year old mini Australian shepherd and friends and family.

Casey Knisley-Dingle
Wolves Unit Supervisor

Casey has been working at the Hoffmann Center for almost 3 years! Casey started his journey here as a Youth Counselor and received a promotion to Unit Supervisor for his dedication and desire to help others. Casey studied psychology and sociology at the University of North Dakota. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three black cats. Casey loves playing games and enjoying many outdoor activities.

Meghan Gleisner, MS
Therapist

Meghan has been with LAHC since Jan. 2017 and started as a wolves youth counselor. She continued working as a youth counselor as she pursued her master’s degree in mental health counseling at MSU in Mankato and graduated in 2021. She has completed her supervision hours and will be independently licensed as an LPCC in the near future. Meghan transitioned from the outpatient program at Hoffmann back to the residential program in August 2023. Meghan enjoys working with the kids in the PRTF program and having the ability to see them on a daily basis. She feels the treatment can be more intentional in working to stabilize the client’s mental health symptoms. Meghan is a local resident of this area and she loves to spend time outside with her family and her dogs in her free time.

Sara Swan, MS
Therapist

I received my Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023 from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. I am a Master Trainee, working towards my Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) licensure.

Prior to Hoffmann Counseling Services, I worked as an outpatient therapist at Southern Minnesota Behavioral Health (previously Sioux Trail Mental Health Center) after receiving my degree.
I have experience treating a variety of concerns for all ages including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, LGBTQ+ concerns, and neurodevelopmental concerns such as ADHD.

I have a passion for working with children and adolescents with a person centered and trauma informed approach to aid them in improving their quality of life. I am currently receiving training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). In the future, I am looking to continue training in Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), play therapy models, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

I am located in New Ulm, and spend my free time being outside and crafting, as well as spending time with my cat and family.

Leah Preisinger, BA
Mental Health Practitioner

I graduated from St. Cloud State University May of 2023 and received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. I am currently attending the University of North Dakota to receive my Master of Arts in Counseling.

I have experience working with various groups of children at a local daycare, park and recreation department, and as a dance coach. Last year, I completed an internship with Brown County Human Services. I have been able to work with children from many different backgrounds including anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, ADHD, and other various developmental and neurological disorders.

I live in New Ulm and am the New Ulm High School Volunteer Dance Coach. In my spare time, I love to travel and spend time with my friends and family.

Hayli Littlehead, MS

I received a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021 from Minnesota State University of Mankato. I am currently a Master Trainee receiving supervision on track to receive a License in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC).

I worked as an outpatient therapist at a private mental health clinic after receiving my degree. I now work as an outpatient therapist at Hoffmann Counseling Services of Waseca.

I have experience treating a variety of concerns for all ages including anxiety, depression, grief recovery, trauma, substance abuse and misuse, and couple's therapy. I also have additional experience with CTSS and skills work with children and adolescents.

I enjoy helping individuals reach their full potential and believe that each client has the tools they need to be successful within themselves. I have a passion for assisting individuals through their unresolved grief and trauma using many different techniques. I value being able to create a safe and comfortable space for each individual and ensuring that individuals feel heard and important.

I live in Mankato with my husband and two cats. I enjoy sewing, baking, playing musical instruments, and spending time with friends and family.

Brenda Tollefson, BS
Mental Health Practitioner

I received an Associate of Arts in Education, and a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Bemidji State University.

I worked as a paraprofessional in the Therapeutic and DCD (Developmental Cognitive Disability) classrooms in Waseca Public Schools, as well as NRHEG for 5 years. I started with Hoffmann Counseling Services in outpatient as a Mental Health Practitioner in March 2022. I have worked with children and adults of all ages and abilities.

I live in Waseca, with my two school age kids, 3 cats, and 4 ducks. I enjoy engaging in activities outdoors and often have sessions outside when possible. My favorite hobbies include kayaking, rock climbing, and anything involving arts and crafts.

Alex Van Thuyne, BA
Mental Health Practitioner

I received a Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology in 2021 from Minnesota State University,Mankato. Before this, I was the People Department Manager at Mcdonald’s in Mankato.

I have not had much previous experience / jobs within the mental health community prior to becoming a Mental Health Practitioner at Hoffmann Counseling Services in 2022, however; I am well trained in managing and assisting multiple individuals in high-stress environments.

I am passionate about helping people to start their healing journeys and to achieve their goals! Working to help children in general, but also when it comes to interacting with their caregivers /family / friends, is one of my favorite things to do! I typically work better with children, but I am open to working with older populations as well!
I am currently living by myself in the downtown Mankato area, but I will soon be living with one kitty. I love cats, video games, movies, going for hikes, and practicing self-care!

Johnathan Harris, MS, LPCC
Therapist

I graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2021 with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

I have worked as a therapist at the Hoffmann Counseling Services office in Mankato since November 2021. I have also worked as a part-time therapist at the Leo Hoffmann Center residential treatment program from March 2022 to August 2022. Prior to working for Hoffmann, I interned as a group and individual therapist for the Safety Center in Bloomington.

I currently work with clients of varying ages and backgrounds. I have worked with clients with varying difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, and sexual behaviors.

I have lived in Minnesota all of my life. I enjoy traveling with my wife, playing fetch with my dog, and camping with my family.

Michele Biehn-Recker, BS
Mental Health Practitioner

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Juvenile Justice, which I received in 2008.

I have experience working with juvenile sex offenders in a residential setting, adults, and children with many different backgrounds including anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, ADHD, and other various developmental and neurological disorders.

I live in North Mankato with my husband of 20 years, 17-year-old daughter, and Australian Shepherd, Cooper. I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, fishing, reading, the MN Vikings, and downhill skiing.

Jake Johnson, BA
Clinical Trainee

I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Mankato State University in 2020 and am finishing my Master of Social Work from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

I am currently completing my clinical internship and have previously worked as a Mental Health Practitioner at Hoffmann Counseling Services since October 2022. I have also previously worked as a Behavioral Therapist at Minnesota Autism Center. I have worked with a wide variety of clients during my time at Hoffmann Counseling Services but I specialize in working with children or adolescents who have been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD.

I strive to help my clients achieve stability in their day-to-day life.

I live in Mankato with my partner and two cats. I enjoy golfing, hiking, video games, and exercising. I am currently obsessing over my fantasy football team.

Georgia Illa, MS
Therapist

I received my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2024 from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I am working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I received my Bachelor of Arts from Central College in Pella, IA with a major in Psychology and minor in Sociology in 2021.
I believe in the uniqueness of each individual and use this as a strength in my therapeutic approach. I am person-centered, value the relationships I create, and find trust and respect go a long way in therapy. I meet my clients where they are at, while also challenging them to grow, evolve, and lean into the discomfort of change. I am honored to be part of your process and lifelong development!
Prior to Hoffmann Counseling Services, I had my internship experience at Adult, Child, and Family Services in Mankato, MN. Additionally, I have two years of experience working with children ages 2-10 years old with autism, providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I have training in DC: 0-5, SAF-T, and Psychological First Aid (PFA).
I have experience working with clients with concerns related to anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, PTSD, autism, and life changes and adjustments.
A little bit about me: I love traveling and studied abroad in Wales during college! In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Margie "Liz" Coopman, BA
Mental Health Practitioner

I graduated from Concordia University, St. Paul May 2023 and received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

I have experience working with children at Leo A Hoffmann Center's residential program. I also have experience working with adults in residential and outpatient settings and job coaching experiences. I have experience working with individuals with various mental health concerns.

Gretchen Gosnell
Office Manager

As a dedicated team player with extensive experience in office management, operations, and process development, Gretchen thrives when creating efficient and collaborative work environments. Gretchen has a genuine passion for working with people, which drives her commitment to organizing and optimizing workflows to enhance productivity and team cohesion.

Beyond the office, Gretchen loves to explore the outdoors as an avid hiker and backpacker. This passion for nature not only rejuvenates her spirit but also reinforces her dedication to teamwork and goal achievement, whether on the trail or in the workplace.

Deb Loverude
Controller

Deb has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and has 20+ years working in the non-profit sector, almost all of which are in the mental health field.  Deb’s career has allowed her to hold various positions, giving her an in-depth business perspective at all levels. 

In her spare time,  Deb enjoys spending time with her family and reading. Additionally, Deb LOVES to organize.
